It started with a dog the size charts ignored. Tob — our first dachshund — arrived one winter, all long back and short legs, and every coat we bought betrayed him: too long here, too short there, never warm where it mattered. So we made one. Then another. We brought in a patternmaker trained in human haute couture to draft a pattern for the dachshund alone — the way a tailor cuts for a person, not off a size chart — then sewed each piece by hand. Chang exists because the long dog deserves clothes built for its shape.
Starting to Design Dachshund Clothes
Yes, you guessed it—we decided to design and create clothing specifically for dachshunds. We started by studying the Dachshund apparel available for other dog breeds and significantly altered the structure. We lengthened the back and redesigned the wrapping methods around the chest and belly areas. We made multiple sizes to fit different dachshund body types, such as standard and mini dachshunds, and tested them on Tob and its friends. Fortunately, we received positive feedback, which bolstered our belief in starting a Dachshund clothes brand.
